Happy Birthday, Anne!

Anne Bancroft, aka Mrs. Robinson, is our Virgo birthday girl.  Ms. Bancroft was ambivalent about the role, feeling that it overshadowed her other work.  She had won Best Actress, after all, for portraying Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Worker.

But a lot of us remember Mrs. Robinson:  wicked, sexy, and very, very sad.  Who can forget her strapless bra, stockings, sunglasses and gloves?  Sort of a late Jackie O look gone wrong, but still oh so alluring.  Anne Bancroft probably had no time for such frivolities in her real life.  She was the better half of Mel Brooks for over forty years, and it was clear they adored each other.
