Small Business Saturday
Start a new tradition this year: sleep in and laze about on Black Friday, then stroll along St. Paul’s charming avenues and neighborhoods on Saturday to find unique gifts in all the small shops that make shopping a fun and enjoyable experience. Here are my picks (after Bombshell, of course!):
- Succotash (http://www.facebook.com/pages/succotash/53501313582?sk=wall ) is a delightful vintage/retro shop where you’ll find all sorts of fun gifts. When I was last there, I picked up a pair of cool white resin cat-eye sunglasses frames and an old Dayton’s polka dot scarf.
- Initially Yours (http://www.initiallyyoursonline.com/#) has a ton of great accessories and home decor items that can be personalized with initials or monograms. Who doesn’t like their initials?
- Garden of Eden (http://www.gardenofedenstores.com/) has been green long before it was cool, refilling bottles and customizing scented products. I love their lotions and sweet almond oil, especially in winter, and they offer lines like The Thymes, too.
- Baby Banou (http://www.babybanou.com/) is the place for the little loved one in your life. They carry one of a kind clothing and adorable shoes and hats; rumor has it that there will be special holiday accessories, too!
- Paper Patisserie (http://www.yelp.com/biz/paper-patisserie-saint-paul) always has just the right card for everyone. They specialize in stationery and invitations, and have a lovely selection of gifts (Spanish bath salts, anyone?) not seen in other shops.
- W.A. Frost (http://www.wafrost.com/) is the perfect place to wind down after your shopping. Stop in the bar and say hi to Dan (he’s our favorite bartender!) and warm up with a toddy made from their house infusions. Have a bite to eat, too: the food is great.
Holidays are all about the tradition, but new traditions can be started, too. Shop sane on Saturday, November 26th: who knows, maybe that will be your new tradition!

Hi, I’m Denise. I own
Whatever you do, don’t let me see those vintage cay eye sunglasses. This is a wonderful post, and you have made me want to explore St. Paul! Have a fruitful small biz Saturday!
Thanks, Bree! You were the inspiration for the post, and, come to think of it, maybe for those cat-eye sunglasses, too! Hope your Small Business Saturday is great!
I like to think it’s a team effort: Shawne tries on the clothes, and I enjoy the couch! Thanks for the nice time on Saturday.
So good to see both of you! We had a nice time, too.
