anna scholz
Anna Scholz was born in Germany, and worked as a model throughout Europe for six years before moving to London and starting her own plus size clothing line designed exclusively for sizes 10-28. In 1996, Lane Bryant bought Anna’s first collection (the living room in her flat served as her showroom!) to sell in their ten best stores as a premium label. A huge fashion show followed in New York. Shirley MacLaine hosted the show, Chaka Khan sang at the finale and Anna was the guest judge of the nationwide competition for “The Real Lane Bryant Woman.”
Next, the annascholz label was launched and Anna moved into her first design studio (and enjoyed more space in her flat!). She began exhibiting her collections all over the world, including London Fashion Week, Pure London, Moda UK, CPD Germany, Pret a Porter Paris, Moda Milano, Workshop New York, WWIN Las Vegas and atelier designers New York.
Anna opened her Berlin store just this past July, but her clothing is sold in several boutiques across Europe. Bombshell is only one of five places (two of which are online only) in the US that sells anna scholz, and we are thrilled to offer her gorgeous and beautiful clothing to our customers!
April Cornell
April has been traveling the Silk Road for thirty-five years, and lives to bring the color, excitement and beauty of it to us in her feminine, luxurious but relaxed designs. “I want to encourage you . . . to really feel beautiful and appreciate your own personal beauty,” April says. “And I want to ask you . . . to live beautifully, to give to those who are in need, and present your light to the world. Lastly, be beautiful, because you already are.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
We are excited to debut April Cornell at Bombshell this fall of 2011.
Lundström
Embodying effortless style with a unique elegance and artistic flair, the LUNDSTRÖM label is synonymous with beautiful wearable clothing. Originally founded in 1974 by award-winning Canadian designer Linda Lundström, the LUNDSTRÖM brand is often most recognized for designing high-end fashion for women of all sizes. Beautiful, elegant, chic and luxurious, Lundström has it all!
Elena Mirò
Elena Mirò is one of the historic labels of Miroglio Fashion, the clothing division of the Miroglio Group. It was created in Milan twenty-five years ago in order to meet the needs of women with Mediterranean-style fuller figures with style and taste. Over time, Elena Mirò has acquired in-depth knowledge and expertise in the skills required to follow fashion, style and trends, and to adapt them for shapely sizes. The label has been successful in communicating a positive and iconic image of women with fuller figures.
Since 2005, Elena Mirò has been the only plus-size clothing brand to show at the Milano Moda Donna fashion week, and, in fact, Elena Miroglio herself was awarded the insignia of Cavaliere della Repubblica (Order of Merit of the Italian Republic) on International Women’s Day in 2007. The insignia was bestowed by virtue of the contribution made by the Elena Mirò brand toward “emancipating women from a constrictive concept of beauty”, as declared during the award ceremony by Giorgio Napolitano, President of the Italian Republic.
We are thrilled to debut Elena Mirò’s Fall/Winter collection at Bombshell in September 2011.
Damn You Alexis
Damn You Alexis is a Sydney, Australia, based fashion label focused on introducing a designer aesthetic to the plus size clothing market. Born from the recognition that plus-size girls need more fashionable options, Damn You Alexis comprises strong silhouettes, luxurious fabrics and quality craftsmanship, and sets out to fill a void in the plus-size clothing market by producing sophisticated, well designed pieces for the fashion savvy girl in sizes 16 to 24. That girl has an eclectic style that is a little bit rock-chic, glamorous, strong and modern, all at the same time. She is young, fashionable and chic first, and plus-size second.
Designer Megan Moir Pardy spent ten years working for women’s fashion magazines. She passionately observed the creative talent that comprised the Australian fashion industry but quickly became frustrated by the lack of well designed plus-size garments. She launched Damn You Alexis in early 2010.
The name Damn You Alexis refers to Dynasty’s iconic and dramatic Alexis Carrington Colby, an inspirational and driven ’80s icon with fabulous style and even better business savvy. Her sense of fashion and style set the tone for a decade. And whilst shoulder pads, rhinestones and power pantsuits may not always appear in Damn You Alexis’ collections, drama, confidence and passion will. In Alexis’ own words, “Boring? Me? Tut, tut, tut.”
Bombshell is proud to be the first shop in the States to carry this exciting new Australian line!
Zen Knits
Zen Knits has quickly become one of our customers’ absolute favorites here at Bombshell. Because we’re able to choose the color palette and designs ourselves, each Zen Knits is truly a custom piece. We can’t decide whether it’s the rich, saturated colors, the soft and silky rayon blend, or the clever yet simple designs that tug most on our heartstrings. Zen Knits offers versatile, stylish, and comfortable clothing, and we’re proud to be the only shop in the area that carries Zen Knits for plus sizes.

IGIGI
IGIGI is the premiere brand of contemporary collections designed to fulfill the lifestyle of the beautiful, voluptuous, and confident woman. Named after an ancient goddess embodying vitality, charm, and intelligence, IGIGI strives to provide women of curves with smart, stylish and sophisticated collections that accentuate and celebrate their bodies. At IGIGI we have a concern. We are concerned that there are people in the world that do not know or feel how beautiful they are. We are concerned that there are people stuck in the narrow, stifling stereotypical view of beauty. We are concerned that even though someone sees themselves as beautiful it can be taken away so easily with a wrinkle or a few “extra pounds”. Because of this we are committed to breaking down the barriers that inhibit people from realizing their own beauty and to be a catalyst for this in the world. We aim to transform the way beauty is defined. The way beauty is seen. The way beauty is felt.
Everybody is beautiful just the way they are. What would the world look like if that statement were true? We aim to find out. We hope you will join us.
Yuliya Raquel, IGIGI's founder and creator, says, “When designing, I always imagine how a woman will feel in the garment. I try to determine if the clothes will make her more excited about where she is going: will she feel more feminine, sensual and seductive?” She adds, “Many customers write to say my clothes make them feel virtually invincible, like a goddess. That’s what makes it all worthwhile to me.” IGIGI makes their clothes in the USA.
KIYONNA
A leader in the plus-size clothing industry, KIYONNA™ has styled curvy women with its collection of contemporary plus size dresses and separates since 1996. This modern yet feminine label offers styles exclusively in sizes 0x-5x. Specializing in well-edited silhouettes that are made to flatter a woman’s curves, Kiyonna offers special occasion dresses to laid back separates with fashion forward sensibility.
In 1996, Kim Camarella-Khanbeigi, Kiyonna's founder and CEO, was an aspiring entrepreneur with just one problem: she didn’t have a business idea. Well, that is, until she went on vacation. In her last semester at USC, Kim went on vacation with one of her best girlfriends. As they were hanging their clothes for the trip in their hotel room, Kim noticed that none of her friend’s clothes had any labels in them. When asked why, her friend laughed and said it was her mom who had to make everything for her as no cute clothes were available past a size 16. Light bulb!
“We’re in business still, after all these years, because we’ve always sold a feeling, not a product. I’ve always believed in the idea that curvy women deserved to look and feel stylish and amazing. Why not?” says Kim.
Monif C
Monif C. takes an unapologetic stand for high fashion style for plus size women. Designed by mother/daughter team of Monif Clarke and Elaine Clarke, Monif C. was conceived to reaffirm every woman's desire for an inspired life, luxury, and unadulterated sex appeal. A child of Barbadian immigrants, Monif spent many summers enjoying the sweet life in Barbados.
Today as a plus size woman herself, Monif understands the need for a new perspective in the mostly ignored plus size clothing market. "I was tired of buying the standard uniform that every woman has. I needed luxurious, feminine clothes that make a statement...Who says plus size can't be sexy, luxurious, and feminine?" Her designs are heavily inspired by her love of the Caribbean, the glamour of New York City nightlife, and European style.
Monif C. offers a fresh and unique interpretation of well-priced style in luxurious fabrics, delicate trims, and details often developed from original artwork. When you wear Monif C., you reclaim your femininity and your strong sense of self.
NYDJ
Women rave about Not Your Daughter’s Jeans, and for good reason. NYDJ were created to flatten the tummy, lift the butt and make you look sexy, all at the same time. Each pair is designed to sit higher on the waist and contains a 4% lycra-spandex tummy tuck panel that crisscrosses the abdomen to create a more flattering shape. In fact, most women wear a size smaller in NYDJ than their regular jeans. Not Your Daughter’s Jeans come in many different styles, as well as fabrications, and we have been amazed to see them fit so well on women of all shapes and sizes.
Cherry Velvet
Brand new to us as of Fall 2011, Cherry Velvet has the most beautiful dresses we’ve seen in a long time. Designed by Barb Wilkins (who used to own the boutique Bodacious in Vancouver), Cherry Velvet features retro prints with amazing fit. We know they are destined to become a favorite!
Spanx
Ten years ago, Sara Blakely had a single genius idea: footless pantyhose. She persuaded a factory in North Carolina to make the prototype, wrote her own patent, came up with a clever name, put illustrations on a hosiery package (a first) and in turn, revitalized an entire industry! Since then, Spanx has made hundreds of new products beyond the original footless pantyhose, and we are proud to carry her tights and shapewear at Bombshell.
Hope and Harvest
This is another Aussie brand that is new to us at Bombshell beginning with the Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Hope & Harvest brings an innovative and fresh approach to fashion, with exceptional fabrics and quality. Designed for modern urban living, with a philosophy of “desk to dinner” in mind, Hope & Harvest creates pieces for a seamless transition for women with a full work/play lifestyle. (If that doesn’t sound like a Bombshell, then I don’t know what does!)
A young and modern label, Hope & Harvest is vibrant and energetic with a perfect mixture of both simple and complex designs. We know that you’ll find them as gorgeous and inspiring as we do!
Evelin Brandt
Evelin Brandt is a German brand with an unusual story: its creator went from medical student to fashion designer! More than twenty years ago, she presented her first collection at the IGEDO trade show in Dusseldorf and the rest, as they say, is history.
Evelin Brandt designs are the successful symbiosis of traditional and modern elements. Just like Germany’s capital Berlin, Evelin Brandt’s fashions are composed of movement, attractiveness and individuality. They are a beautiful expression of the modern woman’s feeling for life. We are excited to debut this premium European brand at Bombshell in Spring/Summer 2012!
